Morning Patrol (To battle?) « Thread Started on Mar 15, 2009, 3:24pm »
Chaosblood sat at the bottom of high rock, her forest green eyes captured by the garnet colored sun rise. It looked like it was going to be a perfect day. From what the leader could tell there wasn't so much as a cloud in the sky. It was a great time for BoneClan, the she cat reflected, it was finally new leaf, after the hard and dark leaf bare, along with blood being split in the battle (some of it her own), and Chaoskill finally becoming Chaosblood, BoneClan seemed to be turning over a new leaf.
The dusty, brown she cat let a gentle smile slide onto her face as she heard the sounds of the awaken cats. Yawns, morning greetings, and grumbles of just a few more minutes reached her ears, and seemed to make the leaders mood even better. Getting up from her previous position, Chaosblood let the sun hit her pelt as she padded closer to the warriors and apprentices of her clan...
Her clan. She had always used the term but now it had a different meaning to it. Every single cat that she saw in front of, every last one of them (even Morninglight, this caused the young leader to chuckle) left their lives on her shoulders. Feeling that ever present sense of responsibility, she decide to send out a patrol, to see if ScourgeClan or IceClan were causing any trouble.
She seriously doubted it though, With everything going on: Sweetblood becoming the new leader of JaggedClan, Markingblood still a young leader herself, Ashblood seemed to be as cautious as any other clan.
The dark colored she cat shook herself of her thoughts as she looked around for some cats to send.
"Flowerstep, Shadepaw, Blackstrike and Whitegale! If you're not doing anything else, would you please do me a favor and go out for a patrol of the boarders?" Ever since she had become leader, Chaosblood had the new tendency to say 'please' and 'thank you' a lot. It just sounded wrong to her to demand something of her clan mates.

The great leader says please! How pathetic! Blackstrike looked up from his wash, narrowing his amber eyes. Ooh, border patrol. Fun. He yawed and gave a last stretch, extending his calico arms in from of him. He sat up quickly, flicking his orange, black, and white tail back and fourth slowly. He frowned. Blackstrike hadn't gotten much chance to get out and train Cresentpaw, he hoped to do so soon. Maybe get some good hunting techniques in there. The war had been going on for over two moons now, almost three. He was sick of it! Couldn't they just put it to the end? So the stupid cat had run into our territory, and we killed her! Big whoop! He growled, not wanting to stray on that thought and padded out to see Chaosblood sitting at the bottom of high rock. The calico smiled his little fake but polite smile and dipped his head in respect. Chaosblood had not chosen a new deputy yet, he still had a chance to impress her and gain that position he longed for.
"Good morning, Chaosblood." he purred, diping his black, ginger, and white head lower as his amber eyes flickered. His tail swished back and fourht excitedly. "Border patrol, you said?"
He lifted his gaze so that his amber eyes met her green ones and he waited politely for an answer as he swished his tail back and fourth once more and then was still.

Chaosblood turned her eyes from the area around her to the tom. She smiled slightly at Balckstrike. "Yeah, can't let out guard down or we're going to lose some territory." She answered promptly. "I also wanted to ask a favor of you and watch out for Shadepaw for me." She meowed as an after thought. She would have liked to train with Shadepaw but right she had to get the clan some food.
As she waited for an answer she turned to the camp at large again and meowed. Would anyone else like to go hunting with me?"

He nodded, "Of course not. Those mangy ScourgeClanners need to be taught a lesson. BloodClan knows how many times they've broken the Blood Rules!" His left ginger ear flicked with interest as she asked him to watch over her apprentice. "Of course," he meowed quickly, dipping his head. "It would be an honor to watch your apprentice."Annoying as he may be ... but Blackstrike didn't dare say that out loud.
The calico tom looked around him, waiting for the others to show. His tail swished back and fourth nervously. Surely they were up and he wouldn't have to go by himself! His claws dug into the ground as the uneasy thought crossed his mind. I don't want to look like an idiot!

Flowerstep entered the camp just as Chaosblood called her name for the patrol. Patrol? Why not. . . .Have to look like I'm doing something for the clan anyway. . . She sighed and glanced boredly in the direction of Scourgeclan territory. Foxpaw, Foxpaw, Foxpaw. Or whatever he was called now. Hopefully she'd get to go to the next Gathering. . .or she'd have to risk hanging out alone near the border waiting for him. . .
The blue and white she-cat padded over to her new leader and Blackstrike. When he mentioned Scourgeclanners, her left ear twitched involuntarily. Although any Scourgeclan scent had certainly been washed off her pelt since her last illicit meeting, a little paranoid part of herself feared that some trace might still be there. . .not to mention the fact that the scent said "lover" instead of "enemy warrior" to her now.
"So we're patroling the Scourgeclan border. Right." She glanced at Blackstrike, hoping to distract him from Scourgeclan stuff. "Do you want to bring Cresentpaw? He's about old enough to be a warrior. . ." Not that she really cared about her younger brother, but it was a different subject.

Blackstrike turned as Flowerstep came out and he dipped his head. Good, now we just have to wait for Shadepaw and Whitegale ... His full attention was on her and off of Chaosblood as soon as she mentioned his apprentice. He pondered the thought for a moment, multi-colored tail swishing back and fourth. There was a potential battle if ScourgeClan had attacked, and his apprentice had missed the past battles as far as he knew, the must fighting he got was in practice training.
"I'm not sure, he's a good fighter in all ... but I think we may need to work on hunting some more. All of this fighting training is blocking it up, you know. Do you want to take him with you, Chaosblood, and see how he does or should we swap apprentices? Someone has to go hunting with you, too." he turned to his leader once more, waiting for a decision.
Waiting. How he hated it! When you waited, it meant you didn't know. And Blackstrike hated not knowing. He licked his chest, tying to lower his anger and just be cool like a respectable deputy might.

"I'll go get him," offered Flowerstep, anxious to get away from the two cats who would make her life the Place of No Stars if they found out her secret. She turned around and padded over to the apprentice den. Sticking her head into the ferns, she scanned the bodies for a familiar light grey one. There. She reached out with a paw and prodded him. "Hey, Cresentpaw, Blackstrike's looking for you."
Cresentpaw twitched an ear sleepily. "Wut?" He blinked open an eye and caught sight of Flowerstep. "Oh, it's you," he meowed nastily. "What do you want?"
Flowerstep rolled her eyes. "I said, Blackstrike's looking for you, stupid. Now come on, he's not in a much better mood than usual." She turned around and stalked back over to Chaosblood and Blackstrike.
"Oh."Great. A patrol with the forest's biggest jerk. So, as slowly as possible, Cresentpaw licked out his fur and made his way to his mentor.

Lifewhisper joined the others getting seperated into patorls and looks around. her good eye sweeps over everyone around her,looks over too choasblood asnd walks over too her, " could i go on patrol?" she asked.

Blackstrike noticed Crescentpaw lurking out of the apprentice's den and frowned. He flicked his calico tail back and fourth annoyedly as he watched the young tome come closer and closer to him. The BoneClanner's amber eyes narrowed with anger as he snapped, "Cresentpaw! I expect you to be more punctual next time. You can't be late for anything, do you understand that? What if ScourgeClan had broken in?! Would you be as slow as you were, or would you only come because your Clan is in danger? Loyalty to your Clan is more then coming to their side when they're in pain." He shook his thick head and rolled his eyes, lashing his tail from side to side. His lips curled into a snarl as he said, "come faster next time, I expect better of you. You're my apprentice, I know you can do better."
He sighed and shook his head again, then raised one paw to lick it and roll it over his ear. Blackstrike turned to Flowerstep slowly and meowed, "I hope he wasn't too much trouble to get up. Usually he's better than today. perhaps it's the strain of the war ..." After thinking on it for a second, he flicked his ear and meowed, "no, I don't think so. He hasn't gone into battle yet. Ah well. He has a lot to learn still."
The calico glanced down at Cresentpaw with disappointment and anger burning in his eyes. Of all the apprentices I have to get the most mouse-brained one! What's gotten into this flea-bag today? Blackstrike shook his head again, as if a flea was bothering him, and then turned to Lifewhisper's voice as she exited the warriors den.
"Good morning, Lifewhisper," he called over to her, flicking his tail from side to side. "Yes, we're just about to set up a border patrol to check out what mischief those ScourgeClanners are up to. If Shadepaw and Whitegale don't show up soon, you could come with me, Flowerstep, and Cresentpaw." he turned to Choasblood, realizing he'd forgotten about her when his annoying little apprentice dawdled on his way out, "unless, of course, you have no objections, Chaosblood."
He really wanted to stay on her good side. Something told him that he'd missed his chance for deputation and it was stolen from him by a younger warrior. I'll bet it was Orchidpelt ... fox-dung that mangy she-cat! He blinked away the thought and once more waited for Choasblood's words, flicking his orange, black, and white tail back and fourth.

Chaosblood nodded and smiled slightly at Flowerstep, and nodded her head to Blackstrike. "That's what I had in mind." She meowed simply.
She watched Flowerstep go off to get the apprentice then turned her attention to Blackstrike. A weird feeling was coming off him as Chaosblood looked at him, causing her hairs to raise slightly. Confused, she turned from the male to look at Cresentpaw who just came out of the apprentice den, following Flowerstep with a rather sour look on his face. She opened her mouth to tell him what he was going to do, when Blackstrike snapped at the apprentice.
She turned her eyes back to the warrior with distaste in her eyes. "Lay off, Blackstrike. He's right on time actually." She said smoothly before turning to the apprentice. "You will be coming with Orchidpelt and I hunting. Blackstrike, take Flowerstep and Lifewhisper with you and go on patrol. We're wasting light, and time." She meowed sharply, ignoring Blackstrike's sudden change in personality and looked around for her deputy.

Black and brown flecked ears twitched at the sound of the she-cat's name being mentioned in a conversation from nearby outside. Orchidpelt stretched in her nest as she woke up from her light sleep, and padded out of the warmth and comfort Warrior's den. The bright new-leaf sun light made her squint her pretty bright green eyes slightly after being sleeping in the darkness of the den, but she quickly got used too it. The deputy trotted over too the group of cats debating over who was going on what patrol and stood beside Chaosblood, "Hunting, eh? Sounds like fun! We could use some prey, anyways." She meowed, then waved her dappled tail in a silent greeting too her fellow clan mates.

Chaosblood's eyes landed on Orchidpelt and followed her until she came to a stop beside the leader. Chaosblood gave the other she cat a slight smile before starting towards the entrance. Her earth colored pelt melted easily into the BoneClan backdrop as she fell into the shadows. Just before she reached the entrance, she turned back and waited for the other two cats to follow.
Her pelt was already feeling a little too hot from the sun's rays, dispute this, the BoneClan deputy's claws were itching for a hunt. Her restlessness seemed to be effecting her attitude, she winced inwardly at snapping at Blackstrike, he was really a great and loyal cat. Guilt swept over her, but she would make it up when she came back. Her sympathy for Cresentpaw seemed to over power this, why would Blackstrike treat his apprentice like this.

Blackstrike blinked in surprise as Choasblood snapped at him. His ears flattened against his head and his tail swished from side to side as she told him off. But he was being so slow! I swear, he was! he protested inside, not daring to let it out. Once his leader had finished scolding him, he straightened up and looked down embarrassedly, flicking his golden and black ears.
"Y-you're right. I'm sorry, I guess I was a little impatient." Blackstrike knew better than to argue with his leader, even if he himself thought different. He certainly wouldn't want to be kicked out for back talking!
He listened carefully to her coice and nodded. Maybe I was being a little harsh, perhaps it's best if Cresentpaw goes with Chaosblood ... she is the leader, after all. Who knows what experience he'll learn from her? Blackstrike pondered over the thoughts and shook them away, feleing anger boiling inside him. No! That's can't be right! She's rogue-born for BloodClan's sake! I am of pure BoneClan blood! She doesn't deserve to take my apprentice from me! He let out a heavy sigh and looked up to Flowerstep and Lifewhisper.
"Let's go then. I don't want to be late for any ScourgeClanner's rearing for a fight. Follow me!" and with that said, Blackstrike whipped around with his calico pelt flashing in the morning light and his disappeared into the undergrowth, not bothering to see if Flowerstep or Lifewhisper were following him.

Cresentpaw puffed up indignantly and narrowed his eyes. He was about to tell Blackstrike exactly what he thought of him when Chaosblood spoke in his defense. Ha ha! That'll show him to treat me like that. Retarded hairball. I feel like I get stupider just standing next to him. He grinned smugly at Blackstrike and turned to Chasoblood. "Yes, Chaosblood," he meowed brightly, and followed her as she made to leave the camp. If he could impress her, he might just never have to take an order from that mangy fleabag ever again. Hmm. . Cresentclaw had a nice ring to it. As did Cresentfang. . .but he could worry about that later.
Flowerstep watched Blackstrike chew her younger brother out with some amusement. Heh heh. The only thing more amusing than this will be to see his reaction. . . She had to look away so she wouldn't burst into hyterical laughter. Even so, her lips were stretched back into a small smile. "Lay off, Blackstrike. He's right on time actually," meowed Chaosblood. Aw. . .I wanted to see him curse out his mentor. . .phooey. As she was assigned to patrol with Blackstrike, she sighed. Great. Now I get to deal with him. At least he can't tell me what to do anymore. . . She smiled ruefully to herself. Being ordered around by Blackstrike had sucked, even though her mentor had been Owlclaws, who hadn't really bother to even try excercising any control over her after a while. Good times, good times. . . As Blackstrike took off, she loped after him. This would be entertaining. . .
A cattish smile crossed over Orchidpelt's black and white speckled maw. She turned towards the entrance and padded along a little ways behind the leader, not even aware of residual anger that floated around the clearing. It was too good of a day too notice that. Bouncing up behind Chaosblood, she meowed "Where are we hunting this lovely day?" her tone was bright and happy, as she shifted from paw to paw. "I bet there's a lot of leaf-bare hungry prey scuttling around!" Orchidpelt's paws itched too go and pounce on the unsuspecting prey, after her previous night good sleep, she was revved up for the day.
